Paul founded a domiciliary optical practice based in the South East of England in 1995, which grew into a nationwide chain of franchised domiciliary practices. As CEO, Paul used his professional and personal skills to lead a customer focused and innovative business. Paul sold and exited the optometry business in 2021 and became more engaged with optical bodies. These roles included co-chair of the Domiciliary Eye Care Committee, the inaugural AOP Domiciliary Optometrist councillor and being elected to the AOP board in 2024.
In 2023, Paul founded Mottainai Solutions, where he serves as a director and executive leadership advisor. Paul also has roles as non-executive director and Clinical advisor in two MedTech start-ups, providing strategic direction and governance and clinical advice.
In 2025, Paul was invited to serve as the clinical advisor for the Optical Consumer Complaints Service. This role aligns with his strong commitment to customer service and his extensive understanding of the role optometrists play in all aspects of optical care in the UK.
Outside of optometry and consulting, Paul runs a buy-to-let portfolio and enjoys staying active by cycling and umpiring field hockey.
The OCCS look forward to working with Paul to support and grow the impact of the OCCS for both consumers and practitioners.
